How to Use CheatDetector
CheatDetector is a free anti-cheat scanner for Counter-Strike 1.6. It analyzes the player's system in real-time and generates a detailed report that server admins can use to verify if someone is playing clean. The entire process takes less than 30 seconds.
For Server Admins
Step 1 — Send the scanner to the suspect
When you suspect a player of cheating, ask them to download CheatDetector from this site. Send them the direct link: msboost.eu/cheatdetector. The scanner is a single .exe file — no installation required.
Step 2 — Player runs the scan
The player must have CS 1.6 running (ideally connected to a server) when they launch CheatDetector. They click START SCAN and wait ~15 seconds. The scanner requires Administrator privileges — Windows will show a UAC prompt.
Step 3 — Review the report
After the scan completes, the player gets a VIEW REPORT link. They send you this link. You can also find all scans on the Scan Reports page — search by player name, SteamID, or server IP.
Step 4 — Reading the report
The report shows a verdict: CLEAN, SUSPICIOUS, or CHEAT DETECTED. Pay attention to these key indicators:
⛔ Detected — Direct evidence of cheats found (cheat files, injected modules, hooked functions).
⚠️ Warning — Suspicious activity that may or may not be a cheat.
🕐 Session time — If it says "Session: 30s" the player just restarted CS before scanning. Ask them to scan again while playing, not from a fresh launch.
🔷 Steam / No Steam — Whether the player has active Steam sync. Not cheating-related, but useful info.
Tip — Preventing scan manipulation
Cheaters may try to close CS 1.6, reopen it clean, and then scan. The report exposes this — check the Session time next to "Scan Time". If the game was launched seconds before the scan, the player likely restarted to hide their cheats. A legitimate scan should show a session of several minutes or more.
For Players
Step 1 — Download CheatDetector
Download the scanner from the CheatDetector page or use the Download button in the sidebar. It's a single file — no installation, no setup.
Step 2 — Open CS 1.6 first
Launch Counter-Strike 1.6 and connect to the server where you're being asked to scan. Do NOT close the game — the scanner needs to analyze the running game process. If you scan from the main menu, the report will show "Not connected" and no server info.
Step 3 — Run CheatDetector
Double-click CheatDetector.exe. Windows will ask for Administrator permission — click Yes. This is required because the scanner needs to read game memory. A dark window with a START SCAN button appears.
Step 4 — Click START SCAN
Click the button and wait. The scan takes about 10–20 seconds. You'll see a progress bar and status messages. Do not close CS 1.6 or the scanner during this process.
Step 5 — Share the report
When the scan finishes, you'll see the result (CLEAN / SUSPICIOUS / CHEAT) and a VIEW REPORT button. Click it to open the report in your browser, or COPY LINK to send it to the server admin. The report URL looks like: msboost.eu/cheatdetector/report/123
Important Notes
Antivirus warnings
Some antivirus software may flag CheatDetector because it uses the same system APIs that cheats use (reading process memory, enumerating drivers). This is a false positive. You may need to add an exception for the scanner.
Administrator required
The scanner must run with Administrator privileges. Without admin rights, many detection phases will fail and the scan will be incomplete. Always click "Yes" on the UAC prompt.
CS 1.6 must be running
The scanner only works when Counter-Strike 1.6 is running. If no game process is found, the scanner will display "TARGET NOT FOUND". Supported clients: Steam, NextClient, GSClient, GoldClient, and most modified clients.
Privacy
The scanner does not access personal files, browser history, passwords, or any data outside the game context. Only the scan report is sent to our server. Your player IP is partially masked in the public report.
